WHO WE ARE

AIM is a not-for-profit student club that focuses on the importance of relationships and career development.

Our club consists of six portfolios: Marketing, External Events, Internal Events/Non-Profit, Academic, Operations & Finance, and Corporate Relations. Each portfolio has a team of one to three directors and is headed by one of our six hardworking and motivated Vice Presidents.

Our offerings for students include academic assistance, volunteer opportunities in the marketing community and networking events. We also host multiple workshops each semester, where students can develop their skills with tools such as WordPress, InDesign, Photoshop and MailChimp.

Our events

Volunteer Opportunities

Each year, AIM offers its executive and general members several volunteer opportunities in the local marketing community. In the past, our team has volunteered at The Post Forum, CAMP Festival, Startup Calgary Launch Party, and The Gathering, among other things.

Workshops

As part of AIM’s dedication to educational excellence, we offer two to three workshops to students each semester during the academic year. These workshops help students to develop their knowledge and skills in technologies such as Photoshop, InDesign, and WordPress. The workshops are intended to help fill the gaps that currently exist in the marketing program due to the exponential growth of digital and social media.

Networking Nights

This event connects students with high-performance professionals in the field of Marketing. Students will have an opportunity to make new meaningful connections and learn more about the career path they are taking. Case Competitions.

Case Competitions (Fall and Winter)

In this event, students will be given a business case regarding a specific topic (a case) to identify key issues, analyze potential solutions, and present a recommendation to a panel of expert judges. The student participants will also be given a chance to network with corporate representatives that help organize the case.

Industry Night (Conference)

Industry Night is one of AIM’s leading networking events. Held in Haskayne School of Business at Scurfield Hall, this event provides students with an opportunity to connect with marketing professionals in corporate Calgary. As a company, it gives you the chance to connect one-on-one with top students within our future generation of marketing leaders. Students will hear short presentations on different marketing career paths and network with corporate attendees. The typical students that attend this event are intelligent, driven, and passionate about a career in marketing. We value your experiences and believe this to be a beneficial event for AIM, Haskayne Marketing students, and the marketing industry. Past attendees include representatives from PepsiCo, Kraft Heinz, Venture Communications, the Marketing Research and Intelligence Association (MRIA), ATB, WestJet, and Telus.

Ad Crawl

Ad Crawl is an off-campus tour, focused on students who are interested in working for a marketing agency. Held during the day, this event takes students into three local agencies where they are given a tour of the office and a preview of the organization’s current (and/or past) projects. This event gives students a realistic preview of an agency career, and the chance to build their professional networks by getting to know their hosts. We hope that this event will lead to volunteer and internship opportunities for attendees, which is why we also provide each host agency with a book of attending students’ resumes.
